Lagoa da Rancharia

Lagoa da Rancharia is one of the clear-water lagoons that form between the dunes of the Lençóis Maranhenses, ringed by sand on every side. The tall dunes around it are part of what you see on arrival.

What is said about this one is that its water stays through the year, unlike many lagoons in the region, which come and go with the seasons.

Access is from Santo Amaro do Maranhão, a municipality in the Lençóis Maranhenses microregion and the immediate region of Barreirinhas.
