Lagoa do Reflexo

Lagoa do Reflexo is a lake set among the dunes, with clear water and a depth that sets it apart from others on the same circuit. The name comes from what happens on the surface: when the water is still, the surrounding sand appears mirrored in it.

Another thing said about this lake is how long it holds its water, staying full for longer than other lakes in the region, which widens the window for visiting through the year. It is one of the larger lakes on the circuit, sought out for swimming and for photographs precisely because of how transparent the water is.

The lake lies in Santo Amaro do Maranhao, a municipality in the Lencois Maranhenses microregion and the immediate region of Barreirinhas. In the same municipality, the Vivai catalogue also lists Lagoa da Betania, Lagoa Andorinhas, Lagoas Emendadas and Lagoa da Rancharia, names that tend to show up on the same dune route.
