Rio Preguiças

The Rio Preguiças is a watercourse of calm, dark water that winds through the Lençóis Maranhenses. It leaves Barreirinhas and keeps going until it meets the Atlantic Ocean at Caburé.

That route is what made the river one of the main settings of the Lençóis, travelled on boat trips that follow the water between town and coast.

Barreirinhas, the starting point, sits in the Lençóis Maranhenses microregion and in the immediate region of Barreirinhas. In the same municipality, the Vivai catalogue also lists Rio Formiga, Lagoa Bonita, Lagoa Azul and the Lençóis Maranhenses.
