Águas Claras is a swimming spot at the foot of the Morrão, reached by a trail that crosses the open highlands known as gerais in the Chapada Diamantina. The walk covers 8 km over mostly flat ground, with the landscapes of the Pai Inácio area in view along much of the way.
The outing takes about 2 hours on average and the physical effort is rated moderate. The drive starts in Vale do Capão and runs about 7 km to the trailhead.
Vale do Capão is a district of Palmeiras, in Bahia, a municipality in the Seabra microregion and one of the six that share the Parque Nacional da Chapada Diamantina, along with Andaraí, Ibicoara, Itaetê, Lençóis and Mucugê. For anything inside the park boundaries, ICMBio recommends hiring a visitor guide, since the trails are not signposted, and there is no mobile phone signal in that area.
Palmeiras also appears in the Vivai catalogue with other routes, such as Cachoeiras da Angélica e Purificação, Poço do Gavião, Cachoeira do Rio Preto e das Rodas, Cachoeira do Riachinho, Cachoeira da Fumaça and Vale do Pati.
There is an active experience in the Vivai catalogue that visits Águas Claras.
