Cachoeira da Fumacinha, in Ibicoara, Bahia: a 100 m fall at the end of a canyon, reached by a 9 km trail from below, rated advanced.
Fumacinha is a 100 m waterfall at the bottom of a canyon, and reaching it from below means walking the canyon itself, between walls that rise as high as 280 m. Along the way the route passes pools, smaller falls and large rock formations before opening onto the main drop.
The walking access is 9 km and takes around 4 hours on average, with physical effort rated as advanced. The starting point is about 30 km by car from the centre of Ibicoara.
Ibicoara sits in the Seabra microregion and the immediate region of Vitória da Conquista, and is one of the six municipalities that share the Chapada Diamantina National Park, along with Andaraí, Itaetê, Lençóis, Mucugê and Palmeiras. For anything inside the park boundaries, ICMBio recommends hiring a visitor guide, since the trails are not signposted, and there is no mobile phone signal in the area.
In the same municipality, the Vivai catalogue also lists Cachoeira do Buracão, Cachoeira Véu de Noiva, Cachoeira do Licuri, Cachoeira Rio Preto and the Fazendas de Café da Chapada (the Chapada coffee farms).
There is an active experience in the Vivai catalogue that visits this attraction.
