A 12-metre waterfall on the road between Vale do Capão and Palmeiras, Chapada Diamantina, reached by a 500 m paved trail.
Cachoeira do Riachinho is a 12-metre waterfall with a pool for swimming, set on the road that links Vale do Capão to Palmeiras, in Bahia. Vale do Capão is a district of Palmeiras, registered by IBGE as Caeté-Açu, and the municipality sits in the Seabra microregion.
Getting there is short: 6 km by car from Capão, then a 500 m paved trail, about 15 minutes on foot, with light physical effort. That makes Riachinho a good stop for a quick swim within a longer itinerary, or an easy outing for anyone who would rather skip a long hike.
Palmeiras is one of the six municipalities that share the Chapada Diamantina National Park, along with Andaraí, Ibicoara, Itaetê, Lençóis and Mucugê. For anything inside the park boundaries, the park rules apply: there is no entrance fee, there is no mobile phone signal, and ICMBio recommends hiring a visitor guide, since the trails are not signposted.
If you are staying in the area, you can pair the visit with other attractions in the same municipality listed by Vivai, such as Águas Claras, Poço do Gavião, the Cachoeiras da Angélica e Purificação, Cachoeira do Rio Preto e das Rodas, Cachoeira da Fumaça and Vale do Pati.
There is an active experience in the Vivai catalogue that includes Cachoeira do Riachinho.
