Two waterfalls about 800 m from the village of Igatu, a district of Andaraí, Bahia, reached by an easy 15-minute walk with pools for swimming.
Cachoeira dos Pombos and Córrego do Meio are two waterfalls close to the built-up edge of Igatu. About 800 m of walking from the village is all it takes to reach the pools and get in the water.
The walk in takes around 15 minutes and the effort is light, which makes these falls a workable outing for visitors of any age, including anyone with only a few hours in the village or looking for a late-afternoon swim.
Igatu is a district of Andaraí, a municipality in the Seabra microregion and the immediate region of Itaberaba. Andaraí shares the territory of Chapada Diamantina National Park with Ibicoara, Itaetê, Lençóis, Mucugê and Palmeiras. Being in one of those municipalities is not the same as being inside the park: for whatever lies within its boundaries, ICMBio recommends hiring a visitor guide, since the trails are not signposted.
In the same municipality, the Vivai catalogue also lists Cachoeira da Califórnia, Rampa do Caim and Mina Brejo-Verruga, options for anyone putting together more than one day out from Igatu or Andaraí.
