Ribeirão do Meio

Ribeirão do Meio in Lençóis, Bahia: a wide swimming pool on the Rio Ribeirão bed, a natural rock slide and an easy 3.5 km walk.

On the bed of the Rio Ribeirão, the water spreads over bare rock and forms a wide pool for swimming, with a natural stone slide beside it. This is Ribeirão do Meio, one of the closest places to cool off for anyone staying in Lençóis.

Access is on foot, about 3.5 km, averaging 45 minutes, with light physical effort. That makes it a good fit for groups moving at different paces and for a half day out without a long transfer.

Lençóis is one of the six municipalities of Parque Nacional da Chapada Diamantina, along with Andaraí, Ibicoara, Itaetê, Mucugê and Palmeiras. Being in the municipality is not the same as being inside the park: for anything within its boundaries, ICMBio recommends hiring a visitor guide, since the trails are not signposted.
