Balneário Rio Paraguaçu, in Andaraí, Bahia: shallow, calm river water 2.5 km from the town junction, reached through Hotel Paraguaçu, with light effort.
Balneário Rio Paraguaçu is a stretch of shallow, calm water on the river, with sandy banks that earn it the nickname of chapada beaches. Access is through Hotel Paraguaçu, and the physical effort is light, which makes it a comfortable stop for families with children.
It sits 2.5 km from the Andaraí junction, a few minutes by car from the town centre. If you want a longer day, the stop pairs well with Cachoeira da Donana.
Andaraí belongs to the Seabra microregion and the Itaberaba immediate region, and is one of the six municipalities that share the Chapada Diamantina National Park, along with Ibicoara, Itaetê, Lençóis, Mucugê and Palmeiras. Being in the municipality is not the same as being inside the park: for attractions that do lie within it, ICMBio recommends hiring a visitor guide, since the trails are not signposted.
The municipality gathers other places in the Vivai catalogue, such as Pantanal Marimbus, Piscinas do Rio Roncador, Gruta da Paixão and Gruta da Marota, alongside waterfalls like Bom Jardim, Herculano and Invernada.
There is an active experience in the Vivai catalogue that includes Balneário Rio Paraguaçu.
