Cachoeira da Invernada, in Andaraí, Bahia: a 60 m waterfall at the end of a 6 km trail with rock paintings along the way, about 2 hours on foot.
Cachoeira da Invernada is a 60 metre waterfall, and the trail leading to it passes rock paintings left by people who walked there long before.
Getting there mixes driving and walking: around 40 km by car and another 6 km on foot, roughly 2 hours of trail and a moderate level of effort. Sturdy shoes and water make the difference.
The waterfall lies in Andaraí, Bahia, a municipality in the Seabra microregion and one of the six that share the Chapada Diamantina National Park, along with Ibicoara, Itaetê, Lençóis, Mucugê and Palmeiras. Being in one of these municipalities is not the same as being inside the park, but for anything within its limits ICMBio recommends hiring a local guide, since the trails are not signposted.
