Cachoeiras da Angélica e Purificação

Cachoeiras da Angélica e Purificação

Two waterfalls linked by one trail in Vale do Capão, Palmeiras (BA): about 1h to Angélica and 30 more minutes to Purificação.

Angélica and Purificação are two waterfalls strung along the same walk in Vale do Capão. The trail starts at the small settlement of Bomba and takes around 1h to reach Angélica; from there, another 30 minutes of walking leads to Purificação.

The walk covers about 2.5 km on foot, with an average time of up to 1h30 and moderate physical effort. The trailhead is 8 km by car from Capão.

Vale do Capão is a district of Palmeiras, a municipality in the Seabra microregion and one of six (with Andaraí, Ibicoara, Itaetê, Lençóis and Mucugê) that share the Parque Nacional da Chapada Diamantina. For anything inside the park boundaries, ICMBio recommends hiring a local guide, since the trails are not signposted, and there is no mobile phone signal in there.

Travellers based in Capão often combine other attractions in the same municipality on the same trip: Águas Claras, Poço do Gavião, Cachoeira do Riachinho, Cachoeira do Rio Preto e das Rodas, Cachoeira da Fumaça and Vale do Pati.

The Vivai catalogue has an active experience that takes in Angélica and Purificação, with the departure organised and company along the trail.
