Two waterfalls in Andaraí, Bahia, reached on foot through rocky grasslands and old mining traces, starting at the Fernando Azevedo bridge.
Bocório and Três Barras II are two neighbouring waterfalls linked by the same walk. The route crosses campos rupestres, the rocky highland grasslands of the region, and passes traces of old mining sites.
The starting point is the Fernando Azevedo bridge. Once across, it takes around 30 minutes to reach Cachoeira do Bocório, a 2 km walk. From there, another 50 minutes lead to Três Barras II, a 3.5 km approach on foot. The outing averages 1h30 and the physical effort is rated moderate.
The waterfalls are in Andaraí, in the Seabra microregion and the Itaberaba immediate region. Andaraí is one of the six municipalities that share the Chapada Diamantina National Park, along with Ibicoara, Itaetê, Lençóis, Mucugê and Palmeiras. Being in one of these municipalities is not the same as being inside the park: for anything within its boundaries, ICMBio recommends hiring a visitor guide, since the trails are not signposted.
There is no active Vivai experience for these waterfalls yet. Other places in the same municipality are listed in the catalogue, such as Cachoeira das Três Barras I e dos Cristais, Cachoeira do Bom Jardim, Gruta da Paixão and Pantanal Marimbus, all via Andaraí.
