Piscinas do Rio Roncador (via Andaraí)

Natural pools formed in polished sandstone along the Rio Roncador, in Andaraí, Chapada Diamantina, reached by car or on foot from Fazenda Roncador.

The Rio Roncador runs over slabs of polished sandstone, and it is this stone riverbed that shapes the natural pools where people swim. The rock has a pinkish tone and has been smoothed by the water along its course.

The starting point is Fazenda Roncador, in Andaraí. From there you can continue by car, about 20 km, or cover the route on foot along the trail. The outing takes around 2 hours, with a physical effort rated between light and moderate.

Andaraí is one of the six municipalities that share the Parque Nacional da Chapada Diamantina, along with Ibicoara, Itaetê, Lençóis, Mucugê and Palmeiras. Being in the municipality is not the same as being inside the park: for the attractions that do lie within it, ICMBio recommends hiring a visitor guide, since the trails are not signposted.

There is currently no active experience in the Vivai catalogue for the Piscinas do Rio Roncador. In Andaraí, the catalogue does list other attractions, such as Pantanal Marimbus (via Andaraí), Gruta da Paixão, Gruta da Marota and Balneário Rio Paraguaçu.
