Poço Azul

Poço Azul

Poço Azul is a cave with a clear-water pool in Nova Redenção, Chapada Diamantina, known for floating, blue reflections and a seasonal sunbeam.

Poço Azul is a cave holding a pool of transparent water in the Chapada Diamantina. What stands out is the combination of clarity, blue reflection and depth, which goes beyond 20 metres in places.

Visits are made floating on the surface, which lets you look straight down to the bottom of the cave. Time inside the attraction is up to 30 minutes in low season and up to 20 minutes in high season.

Between February and October, from 12:30 to 2 pm, the angle of the sun sends a beam of light into the cave that lights up the colours of the water. It is the busiest window of the day, worth planning around.

Getting there is straightforward: car to the parking area, then a 60-metre stairway down to the cave. Physical effort is light. By car it is 13 km from Nova Redenção, 46 km from Andaraí, 64 km from Mucugê, 98 km from Lençóis and 118 km from Palmeiras. The municipality sits in the Seabra microregion and the Itaberaba immediate region.

Poço Azul is included in an active experience in the Vivai catalogue, with departure and visit arranged for the attraction's opening window.
