Cachoeira do Cardoso

Cachoeira do Cardoso

Cachoeira do Cardoso is a small waterfall 5 km from Mucugê, in the Chapada Diamantina, with a bathing pool and views over the Mucugê and Cumbucas valleys.

Cachoeira do Cardoso is a small waterfall with a pool for swimming, close enough to the town of Mucugê to fit into a morning. Along the way you look out over the valleys of the Mucugê and Cumbucas rivers.

Getting there is straightforward: 5 km by car from Mucugê, then 2 km on foot, rated light effort and taking around 30 minutes of walking. It is a swimming outing more than a hiking one.

Mucugê sits in the Seabra microregion and is one of the six municipalities of the Chapada Diamantina National Park, together with Andaraí, Ibicoara, Itaetê, Lençóis and Palmeiras. Being in the municipality is not the same as being inside the park: for anything within its boundaries, ICMBio recommends hiring a local guide, since the trails are not signposted.

In the Vivai catalogue, Mucugê also appears with the Parque Municipal de Mucugê, Mar de Espanha and Cachoeira da Sibéria, Cachoeira dos Funis, das Andorinhas and Cânion das Sete Quedas, Cachoeira da Matinha, Córrego das Pedras and Moça Loira, and Cachoeira da Fumacinha via Mucugê.
