Two waterfalls in Mucugê, Bahia, reached from the same trailhead: 3 km on foot, easy to moderate, with pools for swimming.
Two waterfalls share a single trail in Mucugê, in the Chapada Diamantina. After crossing the Paraguaçu river, the path follows the Córrego das Pedras up to a seasonal 50 m fall, one that depends on rain to run strong.
The same starting point leads to the Córrego da Moça Loira, so both falls fit into one outing. Each has pools where you can swim.
The route covers 3.5 km by car and 3 km on foot, taking around 2 h, with an easy to moderate level of effort.
Mucugê is one of the six municipalities that share the Chapada Diamantina National Park, along with Andaraí, Ibicoara, Itaetê, Lençóis and Palmeiras. For anything inside the park boundaries, ICMBio recommends hiring a local guide, since the trails are not signposted.
There is currently no active experience in the Vivai catalogue for these falls. Elsewhere in the municipality you will find the Parque Municipal de Mucugê, Mar de Espanha and Cachoeira da Sibéria, Cachoeira do Cardoso, Cachoeira dos Funis, das Andorinhas and Cânion das Sete Quedas, Cachoeira da Matinha and Cachoeira da Fumacinha (via Mucugê).
