Mar de Espanha e Cachoeira da Sibéria

Mar de Espanha is a lake formed in an old mining site 5 km from Mucugê, in the Chapada Diamantina, and the trail to Cachoeira da Sibéria starts there.

Mar de Espanha is a lake that took shape where mining once went on, 5 km from Mucugê. The trail to Cachoeira da Sibéria, a waterfall, starts from there, and the two are usually visited on the same outing.

The first 5 km are covered by car. After that comes the walking stretch, around 6 km on foot and an average of 2 hours, on a route of moderate effort. Bring shoes that hold your feet well and water for the way.

Mucugê sits in the Seabra microregion and is one of the six municipalities of Chapada Diamantina National Park, along with Andaraí, Ibicoara, Itaetê, Lençóis and Palmeiras. Being in the municipality is not the same as being inside the park, but for anything that is inside it, ICMBio recommends hiring a visitor guide, since the trails are not signposted.

In the same municipality, the Vivai catalogue also lists Parque Municipal de Mucugê, Cachoeira do Cardoso, Cachoeira dos Funis, das Andorinhas and Cânion das Sete Quedas, Cachoeira da Matinha, Córrego das Pedras and Moça Loira, and Cachoeira da Fumacinha (via Mucugê).
