Morro Santa Bárbara ou “da Torre”

Morro Santa Bárbara, also known as Morro da Torre, in Barra da Estiva, Bahia: 1,400 metres high, a road to the summit and panoramic views with light effort.

Morro Santa Bárbara, also called Morro da Torre (Tower Hill), reaches 1,400 metres in altitude and has one feature that changes everything for anyone who would rather not climb: you can drive all the way to the top. The phone masts standing at the summit are what gave the hill its second name.

The access is roughly 13 km by car, taking around 30 minutes to reach the top. Physical effort is rated as light, which makes this one of the high points within reach of travellers with children, with older relatives or simply with little appetite for a hike.

What waits up there is the panoramic view, without the walk that usually comes attached to mountain lookouts.

The hill is in Barra da Estiva, a municipality in the Seabra microregion and the Vitória da Conquista immediate region. In the same municipality, the Vivai catalogue also lists Morro do Ouro, Cachoeira do Bom Jardim, the Paraguaçu headwaters and visits to quilombola communities and a rock art site, enough to fill more than one day in the area.
