Natural free flight ramp on Serra do Orobó, in Ruy Barbosa, Bahia, near the cruzeiro, reached by 2.5 km of road and 2.5 km on foot.

The ramp sits on Serra do Orobó, near the cruzeiro, and it is natural: the shape of the ridge does the work that elsewhere depends on a built structure. Rounds of the Bahia state free flight championship have been held here.

Wind conditions at the site allow long distance paragliding flights. That is also why flying here is not a matter of showing up and launching: it requires booking in advance and the support of local athletes, who know the ramp and the weather window.

Getting there means 2.5 km by car and 2.5 km on foot, around 2 hours on average, with physical effort rated advanced. Come ready for the walk as well as the flight.

Ruy Barbosa is in the Itaberaba microregion, in inland Bahia, and Serra do Orobó appears in the catalogue in other forms too: a trail, a traverse, mountain biking and Morro das Flores.

There is currently no active Vivai experience for the free flight ramp. Anyone planning to fly needs to arrange the booking and the local support directly.
