Andaraí - Bahia

Andarai is a town in the Chapada Diamantina that grew during the diamond era and still carries the memory of its mining days. Rivers, trails and waterfalls surround it, and some of the region's best known routes begin here.

The municipality sits in the Seabra microregion and the Itaberaba immediate region. It is also one of the six municipalities that share the Chapada Diamantina National Park, along with Ibicoara, Itaete, Lencois, Mucuge and Palmeiras.

Being in Andarai is not the same as being inside the park. For anything within the park boundaries, there is no entrance fee and no mobile phone signal, and ICMBio recommends hiring a local guide, since the trails are not signposted.
